Mike Andrews (MIIMS & BSc ME)

Boat Builder and qualified surveyor

Mike joined Haines in 2007 as Managing Director. He served his six year boat building apprenticeship with Vosper Thornycroft and now has over forty five years experience in the marine industry, both in the UK and overseas.

During the past thirty two years he has specialised in shipyard management and been responsible at project manager level of advanced composite new builds, traditional yacht restorations and yacht refits.  His most recent appointments were as the General Manager of a full service yacht repair facility in the Caribbean for six years, until joining the Boat Building Academy in Dorset as Senior Instructor.

Mike has a BSc in Marine Engineering and is also a qualified marine surveyor and a full member of the International Institute of Marine Surveying, where he also teaches practical wooden boat surveying to degree students.

Mike is the face of Haines and is first contact with the customers.  His wealth of knowledge and experience has reinforced the craftsmanship at Haines, the restoration of traditional classic yachts and the future of building new ones.
